The Samyang 100mm f2.8 ED UMC is manual macro lens designed for use with full-frame and APS-C sensor cameras. The highly versatile lens’s longer 100mm focal length, 1:1 magnification ratio, and 30cm minimum focus distance make it ideal for detailed close-ups and portraits. With a broad aperture range of f/2.8 to f/32, the lens offers the immense creative control needed to tackle a wide variety of photographic scenarios - from shallow depth of field effects, to poor light conditions, to a long depth of field when working with close-up subjects, this lens excels in so many areas.

1:1 Macro Photography
Designed as a true close-up lens, the Samyang 100mm f/2.8 offers a 1:1 magnification ratio for life-sized reproduction at its closest focusing distance. Subjects appear the same size on the image sensor as they are in real life. With a minimum focus distance of 30cm you can get in close for extra sharp details and still leave enough room to not worry about casting shadows. It’s ideal for creative macro photography such as close ups of flowers, insects, jewellery, or other small subjects.

Flexible Image Capture – Macro to Infinity
When used with a full-frame sensor camera, the lens offers a 100mm medium telephoto focal length that lets you capture detail and keep your distance. With its ability to focus all the way from macro to infinity, you can even use it as a standard lens for portraits and general photography.

Wide Aperture Range
A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture allows you to take well exposed photos even in less ideal lighting conditions with only ambient light. The large aperture also provides excellent depth of field control for creative background blurring, particularly beneficial when using the lens for portraiture. With a minimum aperture of f/32, the lens produces pin-sharp macro-images across the entire frame.

Internal Focusing Mechanism
A silent, internal manual focus mechanism means the lens maintains a constant length so the front element doesn’t get too close or startle your subject inadvertently. The non-rotating filter thread lets you carefully position your polarisers and gradual neutral ND for enhanced creative effects.

Smooth Focus Ring and Clicked Aperture
A smooth and focus ring features a long throw for precise control over macro-focus adjustments, while the aperture ring offers reassuringly distinct clicks at every 0.5 EV step. Both the focus and aperture rings are textured and rubberized to enhance grip.

Reduced Chromatic Aberrations
The optical design incorporates 15 elements in 12 groups including one high refractive lens (HR) and one extra low dispersion lens (ED) that minimise aberration and light dispersion to deliver high resolution all across the image and throughout the focusing and aperture range.

Anti-Reflective Ultra Multi Coating
Further enhancing optical performance, all elements are treated with Samyang’s anti-reflective Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) that helps supress surface reflections for optimum light transmission. It also minimises flare & ghosting when shooting in bright or backlit environments. Combined with the lens’s optical construction this helps produce crisp images with impressive contrast and clarity.

9 Blade Round Diaphragm Creates a Pleasing Bokeh
While any in-focus areas are captured with precise sharpness, the 9-blade round diaphragm creates a beautiful bokeh effect in the out-of-focus areas when shooting with a wide aperture. Backgrounds are softly blurred and points of light appear round and soft to maximise your creative options.

Lens Hood Included
The included cylindrical lens hood offers light protection from bumps and also reduces flare and reflections that can occur when shooting in bright sunlight. The detachable lens hood can be reversed over the Samyang 100 mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for convenient transport and storage.
