Smooth focusing adjustments can be made with the 360-degree focusing ring on the lens barrel. A 13-bladed diaphragm helps create smooth and stunning bokeh. The lens's optical design incorporates two aspherical elements, two HR elements, and three ED glass elements, which together provide contrast-rich imagery with minimized flare and ghosting. The STM motor within the lens minimizes focus breathing and creates fast and quiet autofocus, which greatly benefits video applications. Firmware updates can be downloaded via the USB-C port located on the lens mount.
