The Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 90mm F4 Close Focus VM is an extremely high-performance manual-focus medium telephoto lens optimized for full-frame M-mount sensors. Through its apochromatic design, it thoroughly suppresses various types of aberrations, including axial chromatic aberration, while also pursuing ultimate performance in terms of resolution and contrast reproduction.
While maintaining the traditional F4 aperture used in 90mm lenses for rangefinder cameras, the lens achieves uncompromising optical performance by incorporating anomalous partial dispersion glass in six of its eight elements across seven groups. Total length from the mount surface is just 54.8mm—about the same as the short side of a credit card. Weighing just 235g, the lens is lightweight, offering excellent portability while eliminating vignetting in the shooting frame when using an optical rangefinder.
This lens features a high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism. Combined with the silky-smooth feeling of its all-metal helicoid, it allows you to experience the true joy of focusing with a traditional rangefinder. The minimum focusing distance is 0.5m, achieved by extending the straight-type helicoid beyond the 0.7m set by the rangefinder. While maintaining a magnification ratio of 0.28x—exceeding 1/4-macro the apochromatic design ensures there is no need to worry about image quality degradation even during close-up photography. The lens features a mechanism that provides a distinct click sensation at the point where the rangefinder coupling range changes during focusing.
Available in silver or black. A dedicated metal lens hood is included, designed to protrude only about 9 mm to minimize interference with the viewfinder frame while maintaining flare-reduction effectiveness, creating a seamless look with the lens body.
